Sjoelen UK – Member Rules
These rules set out the standards of behaviour expected from all members of Sjoelen UK. They apply at all times when representing the organisation, taking part in events, or engaging with other members. By joining Sjoelen UK, members agree to uphold these rules and support the aims of the charity.
1. Respect and Inclusion
- Respect for all participants — Treat every player, volunteer, official and spectator with courtesy. Discrimination, harassment or bullying of any kind is not permitted.
- Inclusive participation — Support the full involvement of disabled athletes and make reasonable adjustments where needed.
- Fair opportunity — Encourage participation regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, background or playing ability.
2. Integrity and Fair Play
- Honest play — Play by the rules of sjoelen and accept decisions made by referees and officials.
- No cheating — Do not engage in behaviour intended to gain an unfair advantage.
- Anti‑corruption principles — Do not take part in match fixing, improper betting or any activity that undermines the integrity of the sport.
- Substance rules — Follow any anti‑doping or substance‑misuse policies adopted by Sjoelen UK.
3. Conduct at Events and Training
- Safe behaviour — Act in a way that protects the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others.
- Respect for venues — Look after equipment and facilities. Report damage or hazards promptly.
- Positive atmosphere — Encourage others, avoid aggressive behaviour and refrain from using offensive or abusive language.
- Support for officials — Follow instructions from referees, volunteers and event organisers.
4. Equality, Accessibility and Reasonable Adjustments
- Accessible participation — Work with Sjoelen UK to ensure that events are accessible to disabled players, including adjustments to equipment, playing position or timing where appropriate.
- Respect for adaptations — Accept that some players may use aids or modified techniques to participate fairly.
- Zero tolerance of discrimination — Report discriminatory behaviour immediately to officials or safeguarding leads.
5. Safeguarding and Welfare
- Compliance with policy — adhere to Sjoelen UK’s safeguarding policy
- Duty of care — Prioritise the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Reporting concerns — Raise safeguarding concerns promptly with the designated safeguarding officer.
- Appropriate boundaries — Maintain professional and respectful boundaries with all participants.
6. Membership Responsibilities
- Accurate information — Provide correct personal details and update them when they change.
- Fees and registration — Pay membership fees on time and follow registration procedures.
- Communication — Read official communications and respond when required.
7. Representation of Sjoelen UK
- Positive representation — Behave in a way that reflects well on Sjoelen UK when attending events, online or in public.
- Responsible social media use — Do not post abusive, discriminatory or defamatory content relating to the sport, its members or officials.
- Use of branding — Use Sjoelen UK logos or materials only with permission.
8. Disciplinary Matters
- Compliance with procedures — Cooperate with any investigation into conduct or rule breaches.
- Sanctions — Understand that breaches of these rules may result in warnings, suspension or removal of membership.
- Right of appeal — Members have the right to appeal decisions through the organisation’s formal process.
9. Commitment to the Spirit of Sjoelen
- Supportive community — Help create a friendly, welcoming environment for all players.
- Enjoyment of the game — Promote enjoyment, learning and personal development.
- Volunteer culture — Respect and support volunteers who give their time to run events and activities.
